bricks made of air!

OK, I know its not a gadget, but it so cool. Second is not completely made of air only about 95%. This marvel is called aerogel, made from silicone, it can carry 2000 times its own weight(never proven) and it is a incredible insulation. Unlike its name applies, it does not feel like a gel, but more like rigid foam. But why is this stuff important? Well, hopefully we can one day use it for insulation in house because it is biodegradable. Bad news is one brick cost about $1000.

Note to readers: I'm running out of gadgets to wright about. send me a email or comment and I'll get to writing about it.

Police with flying cameras?

Police may soon be able to use flying cameras. Aeryon Lab's president Dave Kroetsch says his company(based in Canada) has built a two pound robot that can be controlled as easy as using Google Maps. The robot comes in a pack the size of a suit case and can easily be setup in the field. It can fly for 20 minutes in 30 mph winds and can reach a height of 500 feet. Bad news is one cost 50,000 dollars. It is still waiting approval for US police departments.

ASIMO out run by Toyota

ASIMO, the robot that runs at 6 mph, was out run by a Toyota robot that ran at 7 mph (fastest in the world). The Toyota robot can also play violin and trumpht. But ASIMO still has the upper hand in acting more human. That my change soon as the Toyota is catching up.

The digital printer camera

Did you ever have one of those old cameras that printed the photo, the ones that almost always come out fuzzy? Well with this digital camera also prints its photos without ink. It uses color crystals in the special paper it uses.
Go to hammacher.com to get the full description. I give it a 6 out 10 because the paper is $25 for 30 sheets.

Ztamps

These little things dont look cool, but trust me, when you get them working they are awsome. You program them on violet.net and then stick them to an object. And then with a nabaztag rabbit or mir:ror you can read it, you could make an umbrella tell you the weather, or let a pair of keys send an email to your parents when you get home. I think it should get a 10 out of 10 because of all things it could do. But i could be wrong, if you think so email me at the address on my profile.

The watch that holds your files

The Thrid Eye Camera

Ever wanted to record something but couldn't use your hands, or just to lazy to setup a tripod? Well this gadget is just right for you! This gadget fits in to a headband or can just be held in the hand. Here's the description from
hammacher.com.
"Smaller than a golf ball, this ultralight spherical video camera attaches to a headband, providing a third eye while biking, hiking, or during other activities. The camera's sensor captures images at 320 x 240 resolution at 30 fps (the built-in microphone records audio). Up to 1,200 still images and six hours of video can be saved onto the included 8GB micro SD memory card."
I give it a 8 out of 10 because of it's uniqueness.

iphone suicide

One employee of Foxconn , Sun Danyong, reportedly comited suicide after losing an Apple iphone 4G prototype. Apperntaly after losing it Foxconn security "roughed him up" and he was pressured by higher ups. There are still 15 prototypes left.

The Automatic soft serve maker

This device makes 1 and half quarts of soft serve in 35 min.(after a 12 hour freeze time). Heres the product description from www.hammacher.com

"This ice cream maker produces 1 1/2 qts. of soft serve ice cream, yogurt, sorbet, or sherbet in 35 minutes without the need for chemicals, salt, or ice, and allows you to mix your own toppings from three separate hoppers that automatically dispense nuts, cookie crumbles, and sprinkles through a funnel directly into a tube of frozen confection as it falls into a waiting bowl at the push of a button."

I have owned this thing before and trust me the only thing its good for is regifting. I give it a 5 out of 10 because its horrible ice cream and you'll never use it.

more posting

I'm going to start posting two or three times a day for a week just build up post. And if you have a cool gadget that you got from a store, feel free to put it in the comments section and i'll try to write a review on it.

The 3-D web cam

I was browsing hammacher.com and this thing really cought my eye. Its a video web camera that films in 3-D. Its "legs" hook on to your computer and it connects to the computer with a USB cable that is included, but it only runs on windows vista or XP. Its for sale on Hammacher.com for $100. It includes the camera, USB cable, and five 3-D glasses. I give it about a 6 out of 10 because it films in the old red-blue style instead of the new double picture kind.
